This past
Monday and Tuesday were spent in Chicago at an International Truck
meeting. International had its business plan with owners of
dealerships from all over the world. After visiting with various
dealers from Canada, the U.S., and one or two from Mexico, it
became clear that sometimes I become blind by our local problems.
We are darn lucky to live where we do. Sure, things are
competitive; sure, they expect a truck to substitute for a farm
tractor, a power unit with PTO applications, a self-propelled
manure spreader, etc., etc., etc.
There is potential everywhere if we
listen to our customers. In visiting with a dealer from the
Republic of South Africa and hearing the problems of political
instability, high unemployment along with difficulties in doing
business in general, our problems seemed rather minor.
International Trucks have a great line-up of innovative truck
products to be unveiled over the next three years. I liked what I
saw as did the other dealers: new designs, new materials, new
manufacturing processes all in response to the ever-changing and
higher demands of today's customer. Wow -- a truck built even five
years ago can't come close to the performance, comfort, and fuel
efficiencies of today's trucks, and they promise to get even
better.
We plan
on being a significant player in this growing truck business. Some
predictions call for a 50% increase in total trucks in service in
the next ten to twelve years. That is quite a statement. Think of
all the ramifications of that kind of growth in trucks! You can
see locally that there are a lot more trucks on farms than ever
before. Just look at the interstates and see trucks, trucks,
trucks. We plan on growing our parts, service, and wholegoods
truck business to lead this growth.
We have
added Hawk Master grain trailers to our line of trucks and
trailers. This is to meet the growing demand to transport grain in
volume from field to farm or field to market with speed and
efficiency. Take a look -- we would like to show you the quality
and the features and benefits of these Hawk Master trailers.
I would
just like to mention a few highlights that may deserve you
attention:
Our
Missouri Valley Implement has taken on a new roof and exterior.
The new sign will be installed next week or so. The building looks
good, but it is the people who make the business. Thanks for your
support.
We sell,
install, and service T&L Irrigation Systems. T&L is driven by
hydraulics rather than electricity. They are safe and simple with
years of built-in reliability. We are installing several units
currently. It looks like irrigation may be a big advantage this
year. Call if we can help.
The Pug
has arrived! You have to drive it to believe it. Handy for the
farm, feedlot, yard, or business. Ask for a test drive.
Reynols,
Holcom, and SoilMover scrapers are available for your dirt work.
Rentals are available by day, week, or month. Quadtracs are
available to pull them. What a team – dirt movin’ machines!
One of
the best-kept secrets is the Case IH 5400 and 5500 soybean drills.
We will guarantee a yield advantage over a standard drill. The
seed placement and environment is the big advantage. Simple. Carts
available make a 20-ft. unit usable with a medium-sized tractor.
Buy or rent.
We will
be glad to bring any equipment to Mo. Valley from West Point or
vice versa. Both locations are here to serve you. The combined
inventory gives you lots of choices.
Thanks for
your business, and let us know how we can help you in the future.
With
you in the family of God
